Ronald Ruff, Ph.D. is a neuropsychologist and rehabilitation psychologist who has worked with traumatically brain injured patients and their families since the early 1980s. Currently, Dr. Ruff works as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Rehabilitation Psychologist in San Francisco. He has been and continues to be involved in a broad range of research projects.

Dr. Ruff has developed and published four tests to evaluate patients subsequent to a neurological illness. The Ruff Figural Fluency Test (RFFT) addresses right frontal lobe functioning. The Ruff-Light Trail Learning Test (RULIT) evaluates visuospatial learning and captures right temporal lobe functioning. The Ruff 2&7 Selective Attention Test (2&7) measures sustained attention, which is particularly compromised in patients with mild forms of traumatic brain injury. The Ruff Neurobehavioral Inventory (RNBI) was developed on a patient-based understanding of capturing outcome following a severe illness. This questionnaire assesses the patients' status before and after the illness to contrast the changes in physical, emotional, and cognitive functioning as well as the quality of the patient's life. Dr. Ruff is an active faculty member at the University of California at San Francisco in the Department of Psychiatry. He is widely published in prominent professional journals and texts. He lectures extensively, both as a consultant to and a member of professional organizations. He is the past President of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and past-member of the California Board of Psychology.
